I. ARTISTS WITH WHOM JEROME KESSLER HAS RECORDED
Vikki Carr: Her father’s company, Cardona Paving, installed a concrete driveway for me in the Studio City foothills. Good work.
Nell Carter: She really appreciated having a string section behind her.
Ray Charles: He was a perfectionist, who knew exactly what he wanted to hear. Sessions at his L. A. studio ran long into the night. His cover of “Yesterday”, arranged and conducted by Sid Feller, remains one of my favorite pop recordings.
Chicago: Jimmie Haskell’s arrangement of “If You Leave Me Now” (1976) is memorable.
Sammy Davis Jr.: including “Candy Man”, arranged by Don Costa.
Neil Diamond: Numerous recordings, including “Hot August Night” and the score for “the Jazz Singer”
Cass Elliot: “The Room Nobody Lives In”
Ella Fitzgerald: Nelson Riddle’s classic arrangements (2/5/82)
Bobbie Gentry: Jimmie Haskell’s distinctive charts, including “Fancy"
Barry Gordon: Actor, singer, SAG president, political talk show host.
Richard Harris: His two albums of Jimmy Webb songs are unique. He wasn’t a singer, but he could act a song.
Leah Kunkel: Mama Cass Elliot’s sister, drummer Russ Kunkel’s wife, singer, attorney. Yes, some do escape Hollywood.
Marian McPartland: Jazz album arranged & conducted by Alan Broadbent
Wayne Newton: “Dreams of the Everyday Housewife”, arranged by Don Peake
Dolly Parton: a cheerful lady whose “Hi guys” lit up the studio.
Elvis Presley: No, I didn’t meet him. We did string sweetenings of some of his Memphis tracks.
Linda Ronstadt: Her three albums with Nelson Riddle reflect a great idea well-executed.
Biff Rose: Kirby Johnson’s arrangements for this quirky, delightful album.*
Barbra Streisand: Her unique voice and unerring sense of what works for her invariably insured artistically successful albums and films.
John Michael Talbot: Graceful and inspiring Christian contemporary songs.
Libby Titus: the first album, with Kirby Johnson’s lush arrangements.
Cybill Shepard: She “did it” to Cole Porter
Frank Sinatra: “New York, New York” on one take.
Bonnie White: Jim Helms did the arrangements for her unique album.
Andy Williams: records and his weekly television show.
Mason Williams: Clever stuff, worth hearing.

II. ARRANGERS & COMPOSERS WITH WHOM JEROME KESSLER HAS RECORDED:
Alan Broadbent: Sensitive arranger and fine jazz pianist.
Larry Cansler: Said, “Next time I’m not going to get married. I’ll just buy a house for a woman I don’t like,” & “When you wear boots, your socks don’t have to match.”
Pete Carpenter: Master arranger and one of the truly most decent guys in Hollywood.
Antony Cooke: “Wings” TV series. As a cellist, recorded my “Kol Nidrei”.
Hoyt Curtin: What fun, scoring for “The Smurfs”!
Brad Dechter: Versatile big-band arranger and top motion picture orchestrator.
Jerry Goldsmith: His score (accordion and strings) for the 1978 film, “Magic”, was haunting.
Jimmie Haskell: He could write a hit arrangement on the spot.
Jim Helms: His scores for the television series “Kung Fu” were exemplars of imaginative orchestration.
Ron Jones: An intelligent, creative composer, Ron is appreciative of nature, respectful of the works of composers and arrangers of the past and supportive of his fellow musicians.
Ben Lanzarone: Besides being a fine composer, he’s a formidable jazz pianist, and a lovely guy.
Bill Marx: Studio and concert composer, cocktail/jazz pianist, friend, wit, raconteur (and I’m in his book).
Walter Murphy: Prolific television composer with great skills (Think “Family Guy”, American Dad”, “Cleveland”)
David Mansfield: I conducted the opening credits for his score for “Heaven’s Gate”. (The picture bombed and the reviews were scathing, but through no fault of mine.)
Alex North: “The Shoes of the Fisherman”
Don Peake: Guitarist, arranger, television composer and friend. Named me “Melvin Celli”.
Mike Post: Arranger and, with Pete Carpenter, prolific Television composer.
J.A.C. Redford: “St. Elsewhere” and numerous other commercial & concert works.
Arthur B. Rubinstein: “War Games” and other films.
